Our prices start from as little as £1399* inc VAT for our non branded budget range of manual awnings.
The electricly operated version of the non branded model starts at £1499* inc VAT.
*Please note that both price options are for our standard build and a standard installation.

The price we charge for Markilux and Weinor awnings is set by the manufacturers.
We use their (RRP) Recommended Retail Price list to work out the price of the awning.
You may require special fixing brackets and you will be advised if they are required.
Once the awning and accessories have been chosen the only other cost is our installation charge.

Q What is the difference between a full cassette, semi cassette or an open awning?
Full cassette awnings off maximum protection to the cover when retracted. Semi cassette awnings provide a medium level of protection to the fabric. They protect the fabric from above but are normally exposed from the underside. Open awnings have no protection to the cover and the mechanism is exposed. These are normally used if there is an overhang to install the awning under.
Q What is the difference between a Drop-Arm Awning and a Folding-Arm Awning?
Drop-Arm awning has arms on each side of awning that can can be extended nearly flat against the wall. This provides lots of shade and privacy. Folding-Arm Awnings the arms are in two parts and fold up under the cover of the awning.
Q Do you make and install Traditional “Victorian” Awnings?
Yes, hand crafted from quality hardwood timbers, midl steel, and cast iron fittings. They can be manually or electrically operated. Finished in beautiful hard wearing Docril covers.
Q Do you make and install Dutch Canopies and French Wedges?
Yes, we do and our Dutch Canopies can be fixed or retractable. Wedges are fixed as standard.
Q Do you make and install Approach Canopies (Walkway Covers)?
Yes, we do and offer Apex and Bull Nose shapes plus custom shapes.
Q Can you install an awning on to a conservatory roof?
Yes, we can and we offer both awnings the can be installed above the glazing or below the glazing.

Q Do you have insurance?
Yes, due to the size of some of our projects we have in place £10 million pounds of public liability insurance and £5 millions pounds of employers liability insurance.
Q What is the largest size you can make awning?
We have manufactured an awning up to 24 metres wide. The maximum projection for a conventional folding arm awning is 5 metres.
Q Will an awning give some extra space?
Yes. An awning effectively extends your living room into the garden, by giving you an outdoor space that is protected from the elements
Q If I have more than one awning installed, do I need extra remote controls?
No, you can have one remote control that can operate several awnings, heaters, sun and wind sensors and even the lights.
Q Where is the awning motor on an electric awning?
The awning motor is tubular and inserted in the steel barrel that the material rolls around.
Q Are awning motors all the same?
No, there are different strengths of awning motors and the strength depends on how many arms the awning has. The diameter of the awning barrel and the projection of the awning. The power of the motors torque is measured in Newton metres.
Q Do you install Markilux awnings?
Yes, we have access to the whole Markilux range of awnings and accessories.
Q Are you a main Weinor awning supplier and installer?
Yes, we have access to the whole Weinor range of awnings and accessories.
Q If I’ve bought an awning from another company can you install it?
Yes, we can install most makes and brands of awnings. Our company is used by other National companies to install some of their awnings as well.
Q What happens if I put my awning away wet?
On the next available dry day take your awning out and let it air dry. Do not store your awning cover away for long periods of time if it is wet!
Q What is a Butterfly Awning?
This is when two or more awnings are bolted to a free standing goalpost framework at the top on either side. When both are extended out the appearance is of butterfly wings.
Q Would an awning protect my carpets from fading?
Yes, awnings block off the sun’s harmful ultra-violet rays, so they will prevent your valuable carpets, curtains and furniture from fading.
Q What awning is the best to use in the rain?
Most awnings can be used in light rain and we recommend that they are fitted with a minimum of 14 degree pitch. This enables the rain water to run off the cover without pooling. Awnings that have guide rails and posts at the front are best suited for rain and windy conditions.
Q What happens to an awning when it’s windy?
If you choose an awning with a wind and sun sensor it will automatically react to both the wind and sun. Extending to offer shade and retracting when the wind speed gets too strong.
Q Will I have to wind the awning in and out by hand?
We offer fully motorised awnings which operate by means of a compact remote control, so you can adjust them to exactly the position you require.
Q Which payment methods and cards do you accept?
We accept BACS, Cash, Visa, MasterCard debit and credit.
Q What are the electric requirements for an awning?
We can wire back to a fused spur or the awning can be plugged in to a standard plug socket. Motorised awnings only draw around 3amps from a normal domestic 240 volt supply. If you add heaters and lighting this rampage can increase but in most cases a standard 13amp socket will suffice. Our surveyor/installer would guide you on any specific requirements.
Q Who will install the awning?
We have a dedicated team of professional installers who will carry out the fitting with the minimum of fuss and disruption.
Q Can I have an awning installed if I have rainwater and soil pipes in the way?
Yes, we can make made to measure steel brackets that stand the awning off of the wall to avoid the pipes.
Q Can you install an awning to a single story extension or a bungalow?
Yes, we can make metal framework and or special brackets to enable the awning to be installed.
Q I don’t think I can have an awning installed, can you advise?
Yes, with over two decades experience and thousands of installations. We have yet to come across a property that we couldn’t fit an awning to.
Q Are the awnings guaranteed?
Yes, all SBI Ltd awnings are guaranteed, including the installation.
Q Are there many awning cover colours to choose from?
Yes, over 300 colour options along with plain and patterned covers.
Q Do you recover awnings?
Yes, we can recover most make of awnings with new made to measure covers. This helps to prolong the lifespan of the awning.
Q Are your awnings made to measure?
Yes, our awnings are made to measure. We do offer some set size budget awning from stock as well.
Q What accessories can I add to my awning?
You can upgrade from manual operation to electric. Add sun, wind and rain sensors to automate the awning. Incorporate the awning to a home automation system. Add lighting lighting and heating. Add drop down valances and side screens for privacy and additional sun protection.
Q What motors do you use in the awning?
The high specification awnings will normally have Somfy, Elero or Becker motors in them. The lower specification awnings will have non branded motors.
Q What is Somfy TaHoma?
Somfy TaHoma is the easy to install home automation system that makes controlling your house simple. With Tahoma you can open and close your awning, blinds, garage door and lights. All from your smart phone, computer, tablet or Alexa.
Q Can you sign-write the awning cover and valance?
Yes, we can sign-write your awning and we provide an artwork proof for you to approve.
Q Are there many awning frame colours to choose from?
Yes, most of our awnings can be powder coated in any RAL colour.
Q Should my awning be cleaned?
Yes, to keep the awning looking good and to provide the longest life span of the material cleaning is essential. We offer a professional chemical cleaning service for new and existing awnings.
Q How can I clean my awning?
Yes, and awnings should be regular cleaned to avoid the build up of moss, mould and mildew. If you would prefer the awning to be cleaned we offer this service and we will also seal the cover.
Q If my awning cover gets ripped can you patch it up?
As a rule if the cover is old we would make a new cover and replace the the damaged cover.
Q Do you supply and install tent or camper van awnings?
No we specialise in awning for domestic and commercial properties that are attached to buildings.
Q Can you repair an existing awning supplied and installed by a different company?
Yes, if you purchased your awning else where and the company no longer sells awnings. Or they may have ceased trading we can step in and help in most cases.
Q Who repairs Thomas Sanderson Awnings?
We do, Thomas Sanderson stopped manufacturing and supplying awnings in 2006. We carry out hundreds of services and repairs each year all over the country.
Q Do you replace awning motors and gearboxes when they break?
Yes, our installation teams regularly carry out changing replacement motors, gearboxes and other parts too old out of warranty awnings.
Q What happens if my awning brakes after the warranty period?
We will diagnose the problem and advise you on any cost for the part. We will carryout the repair work to keep your awning going after it’s warranty has finished.
Q Can I leave my awning out all year round?
No, the awning must be closed in windy conditions or heavy rain. If you need all year cover consider a veranda with or with out an awning attached to it.
Q Do I need planning permission for an awning?
In most cases, planning is not required, with the exception of listed buildings.
Q How long will man awning last?
If you purchase a good quality awning. Have it regularly cleaned and serviced. It should last for many years. We have awnings that we installed over 20 years ago still going strong!
Q What happens if I leave my awning out in a storm by mistake and it gets damaged?
We will diagnose the problem and provide you with a price to repair the awning. Sometimes the cost of parts and repair work can be claimed on your insurance.
Q Where are the awnings manufactured?
Our own range of awnings are manufactured in Kent. Markilux and Weinor awnings are manufactured in Germany. Arquati SPA and Frigerio awnings are manufactured in Italy.
Q How much do the awnings cost?
Prices vary depending on the manufacturer, model, size, accessories and installation.
Q How do I work out what awning will be best for me?
We have a team of knowledgeable awning advisors that will find out what you require. They can offer you several different options depending on what your budget is.
Q Can I fit the awning myself?
Most of our awnings are very heavy and require 2-4 people to lift them into position on the building. We would strongly advise against fitting an awning yourself.
Q How high does my awning have to be installed?
We can install an awning at any height. The awning is fitted higher on the wall to enable a minimum 10 degree fall so that the front edge is lower than the cassette. This allows the rain water to run off. Awnings with steeper pitches don’t bounce around as much in light winds.
Q How long does it take to install a standard awning?
Under normal circumstances our installation teams take between 2-4 hours from start to finish.
Q Can I order awning fabric samples before arranging a visit?
Yes, all of our fabric suppliers are happy to send out samples directly to you. Just let us know the fabric number and we will do the rest.
Q Do you have to visit me in person to place an order or can it be done remotely?
No, our awning advisor doesn’t need to visit you for an order to be placed. All they need to be able to provide you a price is the width that you want and the projection. A photo of the area where you want the awning installed. They will then give you a fixed price for any-work.
Q Do you have to carry out a site survey?
Not in all cases, if the wall is straight and we have seen a picture of what we are fitting too it may not be necessary. If we need to carry out a survey we will advise you accordingly.
Q Can the awning be wired up to a light switch?
No, it must be connected to a light switch only to a 3 pin plug or fused spur.
Q Can you relocate my old awning to my new property?
Yes, we can in most instances.
Q Do I have to pay a deposit?
Yes, we do require a 50% deposit with your order. If a survey has been booked in and the surveyor says we can not install the awning. Your deposit is 100% refundable!
Q Which cards do you accept?
We accept Visa and MasterCard debit and credit.
Q How long from placing my order will I have to wait for it to be installed?
Awnings made in Germany take around 4 weeks from order. Our own brand of awnings can be turned around within a few days if the cover is in stock.

Q Do you charge for a site survey?
No, not if you have placed your order and paid the deposit.
