A major factor in choosing the solar shutter was privacy and no electrical connection.
Closing the shutter would provide heat reduction in the summer months. In the winter months, the reverse would happen and heat will be retained. Ventilation in the bathroom is achieved by closing the shutter partially. Punched slots between the slats allow for airflow and light.
