SAIL BLINDS: GUILDFORD, SURREY INSTALLED IN GLASS RECEPTION AREA BY SBI LTD.
ABP Food were experiencing problems with glare and heat as their reception area was made from glass. They contacted SBI and asked us to carry out an on site survey. Lyn Peel our lead designer met with their team responsible for the project. Lyn came up with design concept and solutions to determine what will be the best solution to reduce glare and heat. Not wanting to make the area gloomy by blocking out daylight they decided on a semi translucent material. Having had electric pleated blinds installed some years before they wanted to avoid maintenance. Access to the blinds was awkward due to the height. Static sail blinds were deemed the best solution as they are virtually maintenance free.
Lyn one of our most experienced surveyors carried out an on site consultation with the client. Lyn came up with the concept and design for sail blinds. The other options explored were to install motorised conservatory pleated blinds but these need to be maintained on an annual basis. This possible solution would add additional ongoing costs. Another option would be applying window film to the glass. This would result in some light loss and be a permanent fixture. Sail blinds create a modern stylish design to the reception area. From a practical point of view they can be removed and cleaned in a washing machine.
The installation was not straightforward due to the height. Our installation team worked off of a pair of cherry pickers so they could work safely at height. As you can see from the pictures the installation was a complete success. The gaps between the blinds allow for dapple light. This keeps the area bright and light without the intense heat and glare. A 5 year warranty comes with the sails and Inshade manufacture them in the UK. Perfectly fitted by SBI Ltd.
