Firstly we were contacted by the owner of Pews Bar & Courtyard. He wanted to purchase a Weinor Pergotex Awning for his restaurant in Guildford, Surrey.
Secondly, we needed to decide the size of the new awning. Our client wanted to cover the whole of the courtyard to maximise the covered space.
Thirdly an important part of purchasing the bespoke Pergola was to arrange a site meeting. Lyn Peel one of SBI’s most experienced designers/surveyors met with the owner on-site at Pews Bar. They discussed his requirements and took the initial dimensions.
After the consultation, Lyn worked out what model of terrace cover would best suit the space. She offered her recommendation of the Weinor Pergotex II.
Weinor Pergotex II Dimensions
The Pergotex was offered because of its suitability in covering a large area. As a single unit, it has a maximum width of 7m and a maximum projection of 6.5m. Thus achieving a massive covered area of 45.5m². The area that Lyn was working with was wider than 7m. She decided a 2 piece system would be required. With the 2 piece system, she could easily achieve 10m wide x 4.9m projection and this covered an area of 49m².
In conclusion Pews Bars customers can now enjoy the outside smoking area and bar, whatever the weather.
Custom made steelwork and installing the Pergotex
As with many installations sometimes there are problems that need to be overcome. This project was no exception as there wasn’t a wall to attach the Pergotex to!
Stage one: SBI’s installation director Michael Marsh arranged for a steel fabrication manufacturer to install a custom made goal post to enable Michael and his team to install the Pergotex.
Then Stage two: The Pergotex was shipped from Germany to SBI’s workshop in Kent.
Stage three: We loaded 14 boxes containing the parts on to our own customised vans. We delivered directly to the site and offloaded by hand.
Finally Stage four: The SBI installation team along with specialised contractors and lifting equipment set about installing the Pergotex.
Installation of the large terrace cover was carried out over 4 days with minimal disruption to the business.
Bespoke commercial large terrace awnings and canopies are a great way to increase covers for pubs, restaurants, and hotels.
